Thorp Electric Motor Service was established in the year 1947 when Ted Meyer came out of the Service after WW2 and, with his electrical background, decided to go into the electric motor business in Thorp Wisconsin. He did primarily electric motor repair and rewinding until 1960 when he decided to add a line of Simplicity Garden Tillers to the shop's front room.
In 1984, Ted's son Denny, who worked in his father's shop for most of his life, bought the business from his father and is currently running the business with his son, Jeff, as head mechanic.
In 2016 Denny retired and sold the business to his son, Jeff with Denny staying on a minor partner.
As time has gone by, Lawn and Garden Equipment Sales and Service became an ever increasing part of what the business has had to offer and is today the major aspect of the business.
